Plasma Air Bar Ionizer for HVAC systems

The Plasma Air BAR is a needlepoint type bipolar ionizer arranged in a long, narrow bar design. The unit is installed at the air entering side of the cooling coil of an air handling unit (AHU) or roof top unit (RTU). The installer mounts the Plasma BAR using the provided brackets insuring that the ionization needles are pointed down to avoid debris accumulating on the needles. BARS can treat from 7,500 CFM up to 20,000 CFM. For higher airflows, multiple BARS will be used. The BAR operates on 12V DC which is supplied from the Control Panel using the provided low voltage power cable. The Control Panel is capable of accepting 24V
AC or 12V DC. For 120V/230V applications, a 12V DC. power supply will be provided.

Plasma Bar is the leading ionizer for HVAC systems. They install in the supply air ductwork or air handler, most commonly in the AHU or RTU, before the coil. The Plasma Air BAR ca be installed in both new equipment or get retrofitted into older systems. First, the positive and negative ions generated by the device get released whenever air is flowing through the ductwork. Next, the ions form a cluster around harmful viruses, mold, and bacteria. Then, they trigger oxidation in these particle’s cells causing a breakdown of gases.

Similarly, Plasma Air Bar ionization helps to neutralize volatile organic compounds and neutralizes odors. Coronavirus is too small to get trapped by most filtration systems. However, the charged clusters of clumped particles created when airborne particles are neutralized by plasma ions are much easier for filters to catch and remove from the air since they create a “snowball” effect, getting larger as the clusters increase the size of the dust particle.
